A dozen bands will help raise money for All Children's Hospital at the end of the month during a FREE, two-day outdoor concert that's billed on the event's Facebook page as "Gulfport's Biggest Block Party."
The 7th annual Tangerine Blues Fest will hear blues all day long (noon-9 p.m.) and be led into the night (7:30-9 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 27, by the Betty Fox Band.
On Sunday, Sept. 28, there will be country music all day (noon - 9:30 p.m.) with the Grayson Rogers Band highlighting the evening. (8-9:30 p.m.).
"We work to donate every dollar we raise. (There's) no paid staff but with the help of a lot of volunteers we get it done somehow," said Phil Reed, one of those helping to organize the event. He can be reached at jsrtraining@aol.com or 727-327-3509.
The bands will play on a stage set up at the Tangerine Greenway with the concert centered at 5022 Tangerine Ave. South just off of 49th Street South at Tangerine Avenue near 18th Avenue.
The family-oriented event, which will be in a relatively narrow, four-block neighborhood park area, also will offer food and drink vendors (please leave your coolers AND pets at home).

Gulfport, known for it's historic waterfront district that includes many restaurants and small shops, also offers a free trolley from 6-10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday night that will at least get you close to the blues music at the festival on Saturday. There also is plenty of designated festival parking in the Gulfport area.
