Tampa Airport’s USO Club an Oasis for Troops and Families
Tampa International Airport offers a USO Welcome Center as a military-only lounge to serve the estimated 300,000 actively serving troops and their families who travel through the airport each year.
Tampa is home to MacDill Air Force Base and its 6th Air Mobility Wing, which includes air refueling and other responsibilities. Nearly 15,000 military (both active duty and reserve) and civilians are assigned to the 5,767-acre base, which also includes headquarters for the U.S. Central Command and the U.S. Special Operations Command.
Among the amenities offered at the 1,100-square-foot Tampa airport USO center, which is open 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. at the Ticketing Level (Level 2) behind the British Airways Ticket Counter:
- Free Internet and e-mail access.
- PlayStation games and a computer workstation area.
- Living room and reading room.
- Complimentary food and drinks.
